Planetary Rover

The Planetary rover is part of an ongoing project which was an exercise modelling and kit bashing for quicker ways of adding detail. A number of vehicle models and the Hard Surface Kitbash Pack 01 from  Andrew Averkin to create a planetary exploration vehicle. The rest of the project was inspired by the informative  tutorial "Octane Mars Environment" from David Ariew of Arievvisuals. The tutorial shows from start to finish how to create a fully detailed Martian environment. Chocland 303

Experimenting with displacement maps led to the creation of the Roland 303 chocolate bar. Height maps were created from reference photos of the Roland TB 303 and displaced within Octane. The chocolate material  was created using Octane's SSS material, lots of trial and error resulted in what is shown in the following renders. It was easy to get carried away with multitude of package design colour options. Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing started out as an exercise in looping a fish animation. A particle flow was set up to create a shoal of fish, that moved in a natural way. Once I started adding an overcast lighting setup and playing with water materials, the project quickly grew into the following short of a worms day out fishing. This project gave me the chance to try out the new Octane features such as the new AI de-noiser which saved me hours of render time. Stills from the scene rendered in Octane. Nineteen Ninety 9

Setting up a studio lighting environment within Octane Render, added a new lease of life to an old model of my trusty old 1999 mini disc player. The main aims for this project were realistic material development and studio lighting without the need for a HDRI. Alternative coloured lights. What Are You Waiting For?

| by | | 0 comments:
What Are You Waiting For? is the track taken from the forth coming Mystery in The Making EP which is a collaboration between Dj Trax and US underground crew Assorted Anonymous. The video for What are you Waiting For? was an R&D project for creating 3d visuals from video sources. Once the video was piped into a particle flow, this created a pixelated height map and effect  which was shot from various angles to produce the visuals. Inside Out

| by | | 0 comments:
The creation of the video for Dj Trax's new release "Inside Out" presented a chance to use 360 panoramic footage in a way I previously hadn't used. The panoramic footage gave great flexibility for the distortion from normal looking video, to little planet views and 360 views at varying speeds and motion. The overall effects added to the impression of diving into and out of scenes almost turning reality inside out.
